Producer Aditya Dhar, known for his directorial success with “URI: The Surgical Strike,” is gearing up for another impactful film, this time revolving around the sensitive subject of Article 370 in Kashmir. Acknowledging the delicacy of the subject, Dhar has adhered to a thorough approval process, mirroring the protocol he followed for his previous directorial venture. The Yami Gautam starrer has been submitted to the Ministry of Defence for approval and due diligence.
Dhar emphasizes the importance of protocol, stating, “I was always clear that I won’t bypass protocol. For Uri, I presented the script to the ADGPI [Additional Directorate General of Public Information] and took approvals from every department at every stage. The MoD had to give us clearances.” Reflecting on the benefits of this approach, he notes that feedback from defense authorities is valuable, and following the procedures ensures a smooth filmmaking process.
Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, the film features Yami Gautam and Priya Mani in significant roles and has been entirely shot in Kashmir. Dhar highlights the positive changes in the region since 2019, emphasizing the peaceful atmosphere and improved conditions for shooting.
Addressing concerns about potentially sensitive sentiments, Dhar explains, “Our film is a chronological account of what happened. The drama lies in how the bureaucracy, Army, MoD, and CRPF worked to ensure this operation happened peacefully.” He dismisses preconceived notions about the film, stating, “Some people believe this is an agenda-driven film even before they have watched it. Maybe the agenda is in their head.”
When asked about choosing Aditya Jambhale as the director, Dhar reveals, “I met Aditya Jambhale during the National Awards. He told me he tried assisting in Mumbai but wasn’t entertained because he didn’t come from a certain stratum. I saw myself in him. He was the most deserving person for the film, and that’s the culture I want to maintain in my studio.”
From Jio Studios and the creator of “URI: The Surgical Strike,” comes “Article 370,” a high-octane action political drama headlined by Yami Gautam and directed by National Award-winner Aditya Suhas Jambhale. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar, the film is set to release in cinemas worldwide on February 23, 2024.
