29 Flights Cancelled at Bengaluru Airport Amid Northern India Airspace Closure

Bengaluru, May 7 — Flight operations at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) were significantly disrupted on Wednesday following the closure of northern India’s airspace, with 29 flights cancelled to and from the airport.

The cancellations stemmed from prevailing airspace restrictions imposed in response to heightened regional tensions, following India’s recent airstrikes under Operation Sindoor. Authorities implemented the flight curbs as a precautionary security measure, causing ripple effects across major airports, including Bengaluru.

In a passenger advisory issued earlier in the day, Bengaluru Airport authorities urged travelers to verify their flight status before arriving at the terminal.

“Due to prevailing airspace restrictions, some flights have been cancelled on May 7, 2025. We request passengers to verify their status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time,” the advisory read.

Airlines have been working to rebook affected passengers or offer refunds, though delays and further cancellations remain possible depending on how long the airspace restrictions continue. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has not yet confirmed when full operations will resume.

The incident marks one of the most significant disruptions to civilian aviation in the region since Operation Sindoor began, as security alerts continue to reshape travel logistics nationwide.
