Chamoli, Uttarakhand – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences following the tragic incident in Chamoli, where 15 people lost their lives due to electrocution at the under-construction Namami Gange project. Dhami announced that orders have been issued for a Magisterial inquiry into the incident.
The district administration, police, and State Disaster and Response Fund (SDRF) have already arrived at the scene, according to CM Dhami. Efforts are underway to provide medical assistance to the injured, who will be referred to higher medical centers, including AIIMS Rishikesh, via helicopter. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of conducting a thorough Magisterial inquiry to investigate the incident.
CM Dhami personally visited the incident spot for inspection, accompanied by relevant officials. Earlier in the day, it was reported that among the casualties were a police sub-inspector and three home guards.
V Murugesan, Additional Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, stated, “Approximately 15 people, including a police sub-inspector and five home guards, have lost their lives. The investigation is currently underway. Preliminary findings indicate that there was a current on the railing, and further details will be revealed as the investigation progresses.”
